Authorities of the National Sports Secretariat, the Paraguayan Olympic Committee and the Organization of the South American Games Asunción 2022 presented at a press conference the main awards and calls for infrastructure works for the sector.

Works for the Games
Regarding the works in progress and the calls for tenders for works that will be used as venues for sports competitions during the Asuncion 2022 Games, and that will remain as a legacy for the country, Minister Fatima Morales highlighted that nine awards are already in process, with an investment of 69,824,267,181 Gs. and 14 calls for tenders are open, with an expected investment of 171,913,128,020 Gs.

Esteban Casarino, General Coordinator of the Games, added that the construction of a cycling track, a bochodrome, archery courts, a skatepark and the refurbishing of spaces such as the National Aquatic Center and the Armed Forces are foreseen.

Direct investments in the gastronomic, hotel, tourism and communication sectors are also foreseen.

“The Games are a model of high efficiency”
The head of the COP and current president of Odesur, Camilo Pérez López Moreira, highlighted that the Asunción 2022 Games will be presented in other countries as a model of high efficiency in the optimization of resources.

"As Odesur we are touring several countries, looking for the venues for the next South American Games 2026 and, Asu 2022, is a great example to project austere, practical and with a high level of legacy Games, it shows a path to follow to make better use of resources," he said during the press conference.
