With the raising of the 15 flags of the ODESUR participating countries, the first official ceremony of the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022 took place. The opening ceremony will take place today at 8:00 pm at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium.  

The event was attended by representatives of the 15 countries participating in the games, who took part in the ceremony to welcome the athletes and officials who will take part in the competitions in 34 sports and 53 modalities that will take place between October 1 and 15 in our country.
The raising of the flags is a fundamental event for any sporting event, since the flag of each country will fly in the main sporting venues during the development of the games. In addition, the flag represents not only the athletes who will compete, but an entire country, its culture and history, and for this reason it is given respect and admiration.

The 15 flags, plus the emblems of ODESUR and the International Olympic Committee, will remain throughout the Games in the Park of Flags, located in the Paraguayan Olympic Committee and National Sports Secretariat, next to the FAN FEST where you can enjoy a gastronomic plaza and a rich cultural agenda that will accompany the development of sports competitions. The ceremony was presided by the Minister of Sports Diego Galeano Harrison, the president of ODESUR Camilo Perez Lopez Moreira, Neven IIic president of Panam Sports, representatives of ODESUR, presidents of the international Olympic Committees, mission chiefs, athletes, representatives of the local Organizing Committee and press media.

OPENING CEREMONY

The opening ceremony of the South American Games Asuncion 2022 is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 1st, at the main Guarani coliseum: The Defensores del Chaco, opening the most awaited international multisport event of the year with the presence of national authorities, athletes, officials and of course the volunteers who are the heart of the Games.
