Asu2022 Games will leave substantial economic impact for the country

The development of the South American Games Asunción 2022 in Paraguay will have an impact of US$ 262,900,000,000 that will benefit the national economy, positively impacting sectors such as hotels, textile, gastronomy, industry and transportation, among others.

The data, the result of a study conducted by economist Manuel Ferreira, were presented this afternoon before the plenary of the Extraordinary Assembly of the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR). Likewise, the impressive numbers on the economic benefits of the Games for our country were analyzed with representatives of different sectors.

After the meeting between authorities of the National Sports Secretariat, the National Tourism Secretariat and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies, with representatives of different sectors that benefit from the development of the continental multidisciplinary event on Guarani soil, the data were made official at a press conference.

During the meeting with the media, the Minister of Sports, Diego Galeano, stated that "in this inter-institutional press conference, which we held with the presence of a large number of production and consumption associations, athletes, and government, we united our voice with a clear message: We all celebrate the success of the Games and no one can stop this excitement".

The presentation of the economic impact study of the South American Games Asunción 2022 for our country was attended, in addition to Minister Galeano, by the Minister of SENATUR, Sofia Montiel de Afara; and the Minister of MITIC, Fernando Saguier Caballero. Also present were the President of the COP and ODESUR, Camilo Pérez Moreira, and the Paraguayan Olympic athletes Alejandra Alonso and Benjamin Hockin.
On behalf of the production and consumption sectors, Josefina Otero, President of the Chamber of Hotel Industrialists of Paraguay; Oliver Gayet, President of the Chamber of Gastronomic Industrialists; Patricia Niella, from the Chamber of Clothing; Alejandro Zucolillo, Urban Transport Businessman of Asunción and Metropolitan Area; Ariel Somoza, from the Paraguayan Chamber of Transport of the Interior, participated in the meeting.
Also present at the meeting were Andrés Kemper, from the Paraguayan Chamber of Shopping Centers; Arístides Morales, President of the Asunción Taxi Association; Manuel Peña, from the Paraguayan Advertising Association and Mr. Oscar Sánchez Stark, from the Paraguayan Chamber of the Construction Industry.

The realization of the ODESUR Games in Paraguay meant for the National Government a total investment of 78,718,680 USD, which, in its projected return effect, will mean a positive impact of approximately 262,900,000,000 USD, generating extremely positive effects on the production and consumption market within our country.
