With the presence of Julio Ferrari, acting president of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, the representatives of the ODESUR medical commissions of Argentina and Chile, doctors Hugo Rodríguez Papini and Bernardo Chernillo, the South American Sports Medicine Congress was held on Thursday, September 29th at Club MED, prior to the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022.  

The topics addressed by the professional speakers were:

"General aspects of medical services in the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022" by Dr. Santiago Urbieta President of the Paraguayan Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Past President of SPARD (Paraguayan Society of Knee Arthroscopy and Sport and Director of Medical Services of the XII South American Games Asuncion 2022. WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) for Latin America was represented by its Director, Lic. María José Pesce Cutri, Director. Another topic addressed was "Pre-competition evaluations of athletes" by Dr. Juan Carlos Quinceno, Medical Director of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee "Team Paraguay", Director of the Center for Applied Sports Sciences of the Olympic Park. "The choice of graft in high performance athletes" was the topic presented by Dr. Diego Esquivel Isnardi. Specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology. Specialist in knee surgery and arthroscopy. Current Vice President of the Paraguayan Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Past President of the Paraguayan Society of Knee and Sports Arthroscopy. Dr. Luis Fernando Martinez, President of the Paraguayan Society of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine of Paraguay, spoke about "Chondral lesions in High Performance athletes". Dr. Antonella Felippo, Master in Sports Medicine. Physical Therapy Coordinator for ASU 2022 presented "Return to play updates". "Vision and Sport" was the topic presented by Dr. José Arrieta, ophthalmologist physician and specialist in the care of high performance athletes. "Sports Dentistry" was the topic presented by Dr. Nora Elgue, Sports Dentist and finally Cynthia Villalba, Health Technology Manager of the Itaipu Technological Park presented the "BOLDO System", a local software for patient consultation and treatment follow-up.
