The cities of Pilar, San Juan Bautista, Caacupé and Paraguarí welcomed the South American Fire that will illuminate Paraguay at the XII South American Games Asunción 2022.

Authorities and athletes from the departments of Ñeembucú, Misiones, Cordillera and Paraguarí participated in the arrival of the Olympic torch with much joy and shouts of excitement from all the citizens.

Pilar, capital of the department of Ñeembucú, located 358 km from Asunción, has several companies or jurisdictions in rural areas. It is an important urban, historical and tourist center. The inhabitants of the city are mainly engaged in commerce, fishing, dairy production and horticulture.

The city of San Juan Bautista, capital of the department of Misiones, is located 196 km from Asunción, with a population of 32,786 inhabitants, the district is a livestock and agricultural area.

The Olympic torch also passed through the city of Caacupé, in Guaraní Ka`akupe, in the department of Cordillera. It is the religious center of the Catholic Christian faith in the country and is the site of the Basilica of the Virgin of Caacupé, which is why it is called the "Spiritual Capital of Paraguay".

The city of Paraguarí of the homonymous department also received the South American fire, located 66km from Asunción, the district also known as "Cradle of the National Independence" is surrounded by the hills that are visited by many inhabitants of the country.
