Athletes, authorities and citizens of the districts of Coronel Oviedo in the department of Caaguazú, Villarrica de Guaira and Caazapá, capital of the homonymous department, participated in the ceremonial act of hosting the "South American Fire".

The ancestral symbol that will illuminate Paraguay at the XII South American Games Asunción 2022, the great sporting event that will allow the integration of athletes and an embrace of cultures, continues its journey through cities throughout the country.

The city of Coronel Oviedo, capital of the department of Caaguazú, located 132km from the city of Asunción, its location allows being a link of several routes that lead to the four cardinal points of the country.

It is a city rich in culture, with institutions such as the Ovetense Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Cultural Society, composed of young people who are responsible for developing culture in the areas of audiovisual, music and literature.

In the sports area, the most popular football team is the Ovetense Fútbol Club, which plays in the Intermediate Division of the country.

For its part Villarrica capital of the 4th department Guaira, is the most populated district, and is located in the vicinity of the Cordillera del Ybytyruzú, its official name is Villarrica del Espiritu Santo, due to the belief that there were gold and silver deposits.

Villarica is characterized by its social and cultural entities such as: Club Porvenir Guaireño, Rotary Club, Municipal School of Dance, Oratory and Guitar, as well as the Paraguayan American Cultural Center, Museum and Municipal Library.

  Caazapá the most historic city in Paraguay, the district covers an area of 944km2 and a population of 26,246 inhabitants, this city was constituted by Franciscans, exhibits many of its artistic works dating from the colonial period.

The most practiced sports in the city of Caazapá are ballroom football and the Rugby Club, whose team competes with the representatives of clubs in Asuncion.
