Paraguay gets ready to receive South American athletes and international visitors

The National Sports Secretariat (SND) and the National Tourism Secretariat (Senatur) launched this Wednesday, July 20, the training cycle for taxi drivers in the city of Asunción on the XII South American Games Asunción 2022 that will take place in our country from October 1 to 15.

The objective of these training sessions is to provide 1,400 unionized taxi drivers from Asunción with the tools to act as guides for this historic event that will take place in Paraguay for both foreign and local visitors.

Paraguay will receive the visit of more than 7,000 athletes and officials during this international multi-sport event. In addition, a flow of more than 20,000 people is expected in the different venues where it will take place and for this, the taxi drivers of Asunción will be prepared.

It was chaired by Sports Minister Diego Galeano Harrison, Tourism Minister Sofía Montiel de Afara and the head of the Association of Professional Taxi Drivers of Asunción (APTA) Arístides Morales.

The first stage of this training cycle will cover some 79 stops and around 1,400 taxi drivers. The first day is scheduled for Thursday, July 21, at the APTA headquarters, located on Félix Bogado and Padre Casanello streets.

This is not, but the first of several actions that the SND and the Senatur will develop jointly with a view to the organization of the ASU2022 Games, together with the other public entities that make up the Local Organizing Committee.
