Peru highlights the work of the Organizing Committee with a view to the ASU2022 Games

July 14, 2022

From May 25 to 28, Andrés Goya, representative of the Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP), visited our country to participate in the Seminar for Heads of Mission, along with other delegates from the 15 member countries of the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR), in the framework of the XII South American Games Asunción 2022.

During this activity, the Heads of Mission attended different meetings with the Organizing Committee of the ASU2022 Games and toured the sports venues and hotels assigned to the delegations that will visit our country from October 1 to 15. In this sense, Goya spoke from the experience of Peru as the organizer of the Lima 1990 South American Games and left his impressions on the verifications that were carried out with the delegates.

“Paraguay is preparing very well. A joint effort is seen between the Organizing Committee, the Olympic Committee, the Sports Secretariat and the municipalities. What we see is that the Paraguayan people and the institutions have bought this event and have already made it part of them”, he said during the interview.

“From our experiences as Peru, without a doubt this event will mark a before and after in Paraguayan sports. The 1990 Lima Games marked us, left a legacy and Paraguay will surely be a focal point after these Games for organizing major international events”, he added.

Goya also mentioned that these ASU2022 Games will be a great challenge and a great window for the Peruvian team, which aims to surpass the 92 medals obtained at the XI Cochabamba 2018 South American Games.
