July 10, 2022

The Monitoring Commission of the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR), in charge of evaluating the organizational progress of the XII South American Games Asunción 2022, visited our country on July 7 and 8, with the aim of verifying and evaluating the progress of the Organizing Committee.

The ODESUR delegation, made up of the president of the Monitoring Commission Mario Moccia, the president of the Infrastructure Commission Juan Ángel Mujica, the executive director Mario Cilenti and the Technical and Development director Fabio Ramírez, participated in various activities, from meetings with the Functional Areas, to tours of the stages under construction for the ASU2022 Games.

They were accompanied by the minister of the National Sports Secretariat (SND), Diego Galeano Harrison; the president of ODESUR, member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP), Camilo Pérez López Moreira; and a delegation of ASU2022 officials, led by the general coordinator of the ASU2022 Games, Ricardo Deggeller.

After these update days, taking into account their last inspection in May, both Mario Moccia and Juan Ángel Mujica left their impressions of what the visit was like, the update meetings and the tour of venues such as the Bochódromo, the Velodrome , the Hockey Fields, the Skating Track, the BMX Tracks, the Skate Park and the Gymnastics Pavilion. “Summarizing, we have a positive balance in general terms, we see great progress, great work from all the ministries, great commitment from the Organizing Committee.

A great job is being done for the connections that the offices need, we leave satisfied”, said the president of the ODESUR Monitoring Commission. Meanwhile, the president of the ODESUR Infrastructure Commission stressed that the progress he has found since his last visit has been significant and assured that he is calm after this intense day of verification. 83 days after this historic event for our country, the ODESUR Monitoring Commission has left very good impressions after its visit.

The expectation grows day by day, while the athletes prepare and refine the details of what will be this international sports festival that will make Paraguay the focus of attention throughout South America.
