Route cyclism, known as a more demanding sport, developed on asphalt roads, with a high competitive level where the athletes make their maximum effort to reach the finish line, including blocking the opponents path, for which much technique and skill is required.

Within all the types of events there is road individual which consists at the same time of the cyclists, who must complete different distances and races; and the individual time trial, where the competitors must travel 40 kilometers circuits, in the case of the men, while the distance for women is 20 kilometers. From the start, the cyclists must cover a travel route of 244 km for men and 147 km for women that will move through Tokyo and three prefectures while the cyclists fight for gold.

Besides logic skills, based on perception mechanism, decision and execution. All of them confer an efficiency or capacity for the cyclists to adapt and solve specific problems of the race, through tactic and strategy.

Traditionally, professional road cycling, of the highest level, takes place during spring to autumn seasons in countries of the northern hemisphere, when professional competitions are developed like the Giro d’Italia, La Vuelta a España and Tour de France.
