Taekwondo

June 15, 2021
The name of this sport proceeds from a korean term that makes a reference to a martial art of the same origin. In these sports, various martial arts are combined, using kung fu, karate do and other ancient disciplines techniques.

Combats are developed in three rounds of two minutes each, with breaks between them. The fundamental objective of this sport is the athlete to kick and hit their rival, at the same time avoiding being kicked or hit.

Points are based on used techniques, those that represent a harder difficulty, like spin kicks to the head get better scoring than basic hits.

Combats of this martial art are disputed in an octagonal area with mats, with the purpose of encouraging the play of dynamic footwork, but as well favoring evasive maneuvers.
